Time to manage time.

With only few weeks left on this coast and many friendly faces to see, it is becoming quite hard to juggle work, trip prep, and seeing friends/family. Sometimes sleep is a sacrifice, but it is worth it. You just have to prioritize in the current market of time. The best way to see a lot of people in short amount of time is to invite them all over on the same day. I believe ancient Greeks referred to these types of gatherings as par-taes, which is the origin of the word party. So few people will come, we will enjoy some beverages and grub and it is likely that this would be the last time they see our faces before we come back again on this coast some months later. The Lady is planning on coming back every several months, while I am currently unsure about my frequency of coast-to-coast hoops-and-ladders.

Of course, plans are not meant to be followed strictly, as life has proven again and again. So, I am trying to keep both short-term and long-term things in perspective. I do know though, that good time happen if you have a high concentration of good people in one place. All of our gatherings have been successful, and this one will be no different. Just got to make sure there is ambiance and opportunity to make toasts!

We shook on it.

When people ask me for reasons to choose Portland, I answer that there are three:
a) We have yet to visit West Coast.
b) We don't have a place to live yet.
c) We don't yet have jobs there.

When she is asked the same question, her answer is less precise, yet more encapsulating:
a) Adventure.

She's doing all the work - finding a job, sorting through clothes, kitchen supplies, books, servicing the vehicle. Boxes ain't going to pack themselves. I am in charge of keeping up with the to-do list, movers, tag sale and keeping both of us calm. The journey from Bridgeport CT to Portland OR began with a handshake. Both of us had ideas to live in another state, but somehow talking never got us anywhere. One evening some months ago the topic came up again, but this time we were more determined. Why not make it a reality? As in, really move to Portland OR? In just 19 days, ("holy crap") we will begin our adventure together. After 6+ years of being together, this may not just be another chapter, but a pivotal and very exciting one. That's why I started to blog again.
Comfort is too easy. But rapid growth happens right outside of the comfort zone, so we push ourselves and each other outside the border of New England.

First stop? Dog Fish Head brewery in Delaware, because - BEER! Can't argue here.

Does this song have anything to do with anything? No, it's just on the Grooveshark as I type this post. In fact, I don't think I have ever heard this song, but my 10% alc/vol RiverHorse "Tripel Horse" is telling me to put it in anyway :)
