a) We have yet to visit West Coast.
b) We don't have a place to live yet.
c) We don't yet have jobs there.
When she is asked the same question, her answer is less precise, yet more encapsulating:
a) Adventure.
She's doing all the work - finding a job, sorting through clothes, kitchen supplies, books, servicing the vehicle. Boxes ain't going to pack themselves. I am in charge of keeping up with the to-do list, movers, tag sale and keeping both of us calm. The journey from Bridgeport CT to Portland OR began with a handshake. Both of us had ideas to live in another state, but somehow talking never got us anywhere. One evening some months ago the topic came up again, but this time we were more determined. Why not make it a reality? As in, really move to Portland OR? In just 19 days, ("holy crap") we will begin our adventure together. After 6+ years of being together, this may not just be another chapter, but a pivotal and very exciting one. That's why I started to blog again.
Comfort is too easy. But rapid growth happens right outside of the comfort zone, so we push ourselves and each other outside the border of New England.
First stop? Dog Fish Head brewery in Delaware, because - BEER! Can't argue here.
